The idol is made from water-dispersible natural clay and incorporates seeds or a small biodegradable seed capsule. After the festival, the idol is placed in a container of water until the clay softens. The clay is then moved to a planter or mixed with potting soil, watered, and cared for like any other planting.
The practice reinterprets visarjan as return and regeneration: form dissolves, material changes, and life continues.
Do not choose seeds only because they sound symbolic. Basil, marigold, coriander, fenugreek, or local flowering species may be suitable in some climates, but planting season and sunlight requirements matter. Native or locally adapted species are often a better choice than novelty seeds.
